Allocutio
Fr. Maher gave the Allocutio. The reading asked us to look at how
motherhood and apostleship are linked. As Queen of Heaven, our Blessed
Mother exercises her maternity in a broad way. She helped the Apostles
understand what to do. In Apostolic motherhood we have the maternal
spirit. We exercise care and concern. There should be absolute concern
for every soul. Is there any soul Mary would not make an effort to draw
to her son? She has Apostolic zeal. She goes to every soul in her path.
Even when her children fail her, she does not fail her children. Those
most difficult are the ones she loves most ardently. As Legionaries, we
tend to lavish more attention on the pleasant visits and contacts. Mary
would have us understand that the ones that are more difficult are the
ones she would go after. We should examine carefully our works and our
spirit and pursue those people who are more difficult and bring the
Gospel to them.
